Otago is located on the south east coast of New Zealands South Island. It is becoming an increasingly popular holiday spot, due to its many tourist destinations. Involved in Eco Tourism as well as having its own popular sight seeing spots, Recreation and Sports and Adventure tourism is also popular in this region as well as having its own luxury facilities in the way of health spa's.

There are many historic and interesting sight seeing spots in the Otago region including, the Taieri Gorge Railway, The Goldfields, Speights Brewery, Jackson Orchards, St Paul's Cathedral, Know Church, Alexandra Historical Museum, First Church, Lake Dunstan, Clyde Historical Museums, Mount Ida, Larnach Castle, Otago Settlers Museum, Stuart Landboroughs Puzzling World (better known as the great maze) and Olveston Historic House.

If it is the natural wonders of the Otago region you are interested in exploring then first pay a visit to the Dunedin Botanical Gardens then move on to see the Hollyford Track, you can also ski in the alpines, or go mountain biking or bush walking, you can explore the Clutha River on a cruise, as well as Lake Wanaka, or take a wildlife cruise along Otago Harbour, and for the more adventurous there are plenty of off road four wheel driving tours.

Otago offers plenty of accommodation options with simple options available for backpackers all the way up to luxury five star resorts for those looking for a truly relaxing and memorable getaway.

The weather in Otago is based on the seasons of the southern hemisphere with summer running through December, January and Febuary, autumn runs through the months of March, April and May, winter runs through the months of June, July and August and spring runs through the months of September, October and November. The climate varies over the big region that is Otago, how ever you will find that summer weather is usually around a pleasant 30 (C) and winter which can be little more unpredictable can reach freezing cold temperatures to meet the ski seasons requirements.
